Ask for help! My computer has no sound.
I had been using the headphone jack on my computer's mainframe to plug in my headphones to listen to sound, but today it suddenly stopped making sound.
The speaker option in the audio options of the computer has also disappeared, and there is only an "HDMI" option left, but still no sound, can someone who knows how to help me out? Thank you very much!:hattip: |
More info needed to get any help - what computer (manufacturer/model) - what operating system/distro - what desktop environment/window manager in use, etc.

You can try to answer fatmac with the command readout if you have it.
Code:
inxi -Fxz Code:
sudo lshw |
Information on the headphones might help as well as information on any changes made that might affect the headphones and related software. Can you test the head phones on some other hardware to eliminate the possibility that they just died?

Beyond that, you don't tell us what kind of hardware, version/distro of Linux, or give us any details other than, "no sound". |

Now I'll admit that my observation and heartsickness can be very annoying. It is still that fact that the OP needs to clairfy what their goals are so that the LQ community can assist them in solving there issues. |
