SBo new additions
Hi,
AFAIK we don't know when there are new additions on slackbuild.org With the exception of Willy's commit every Saturday, where it's hard to find them. I think a dedicated thread can be useful So, I begin. My 2 new additions (hopefully on SBo tomorrow): bzip3: A better and stronger spiritual successor to BZip2 unrar-free: free version of the non-free unrar utility |
Other additions from this week approved list:
Code:
FotoKilof Added (graphic interface for ImageMagick) |
I agree I think this will be most helpful.

A week ago, I added spellcheck dictionaries for WPS office:
https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...-office-dicts/ the script processes the dictionaries from the LibreOffice project. Then I though that others (not only Slackware users) may find these useful, so I put them on my GitHub: https://github.com/slackalaxy/wps-office-dicts maybe I'll make the SlackBuild just repackage this, since it's much easier... PS: excellent idea for a thread |
I'd just like to mention there is an rss feed for SlackBuild.org
http://slackbuilds.org/rss/ChangeLog.rss |
I quite like these threads even if rss feeds exist. Here comments are available and in this particular one, useful parsing is done (only additions).
And I believe that, for an official forum, it shows Slackware activity. Maybe it would avoid us those threads asking if the distro is alive... |
I am at a loss trying to understand the logic of how a thread based on a repackaged feed from an officially endorsed but unofficial third party repository appearing in the official support forum is going to further the demonstration of the distro being alive.

We also have website that contains the changelog on every update

I sometimes do some little tricky stuff but wouldn't it be nice if there was like a « new xxx-tar.gz version » to make ? Like some watching, staying up-to date with some stuff (I think about python modules that get often updated). If there's a thread for it I'd like to know. As I said, I only take the previous SlackBuilds files and change them a little but I'm not so experienced to submit them and moreover to put my name on it. And instead of boring the mainteners with emails... well my two cents.

15 packages added Code:
development/cproc: Added (small C11 compiler). This public update brings a lot of python2 removals since they have been ported to python3 or no longer used in any other scripts (willysr) 29 packages removed Code:
development/pyqt-distutils: Removed (replaced by python3-pyqt-distutils) |
Aye!
system/pbzx is useful if you need to unpack a *.pkg, by Apple. It is used in tandem with xar, available at SBo. |

Anyone familiar with Go want to add a new docker-compose slackbuild for version 2.x? It's a bit of a pain as it wants to download about 500mb during the build. Otherwise the alienbob pkg for v2 is an option for those that want it. |
