Issues with Installing Bootloader - Dual Booting with Windows 11
Could anyone assist with this message?
" YaST2 Error Execution of command "[["/usr/sbin/shim-install", "--config-file=/boot/grub2/ grub.cfg", "-suse-enable-tpm"]]" failed. Exit code: 1 Error output: mkdir: cannot create directory '/boot/efi/EFI/opensuse': Read-only file system" I'm trying to dual boot windows 11 with tumbleweed on a newly bought laptop. This message appears at the very end of the installation process. The loading bar goes to the end and this error pops up. I decrypted the windows installation, and secure boot as well as tpm is enabled. I'm using an HP w/ryzen 5000 series if that helps. I tried installing again, and this message came up again. I haven't used Linux in a few years but wanted to get back into it. I'm unfamiliar with tpm to be honest. Any help is appreciated. Thank you |
Hello, elviis & welcome to LQ.
I think you'll have to turn off secure boot in the BIOS before you can touch the setup there. Back in the 1980s/1990s there were these boot viruses which made a laughing stock of windows security and UEFI was the innovation which finally closed that door. Unfortunately they went a bit OTT. |
I'll try that and update if it fixed it. Fingers crossed it works.
Thank you again |
