Does Zorin have the same sound problem as Mint ?

Running Linux mint 18.2 and no sound for quite some time.
I see a few threads attempting to solve this issue and I have tried some of them. All up to but not including building the kernal.
So here I am to see if I switched to Zorin would I still have the same problem as it seems, at least to my newbie readings, that it is an issue with ubuntu and Zorin is also based upon ubuntu.
I dont want to spend the $$$ and have it not work.

thanks

mint, zorin or ubuntu do not have a sound problem.
your machine apparently has some hardware that won't work out of the box. that happens.

please show us the output of
Code:

lspci -k | grep -A5 Audio
aplay -l

please use code tags for code.

Thank you ondoho but I have installed manjaro linux which I think is not a flavor of Ubuntu and lo and behold I have sound.
So, that says to me that it was mint.

Peace

well.
that's an uninformed conclusion; if i had to make a wild guess i'd say one or more of these things happened:
  • your sound hardware requires a newer kernel than what ubuntu-based distros (zorin, mint) offer by default. because manjaro does generally have a newer kernel
  • manjaro offers more/newer firmware/drivers required for your sound hardware
  • the manjaro flavor you installed uses a different sound architecture

if you want to get to the botoom of it you could provide the output i requested.

Thank you for your kind help but I already switched to Manjaro and the issue disappeared.
Hah, though a few new ones popped up.
It just seemed like that printing problem is wide spread and unlikely to be fixed soon.
If you do a Google search on Ubuntu printing problem, you will see what I mean.

Thanks

No sound with Zorin

I am having the same problem with Zorin on my HP ENVY 24-n014 All-In-One Desktop PC - Intel Core i5.

This is the out put of "~$ lspci -k | grep -A5 Audio" :
