ZORIN 12.04 looping on sign in
Zorin looping at sign in on my 5yr old inspiron pc. This problem started with an update that quit with a message that a problem occurred and zorin was shutting down. When i tried to restart i sign in get a black page with the trash can i have on the home screen than back to sign in page. ctrl/alt/f1 wont allow the password to be typed. In order to check the hardware i have a 16.04 ubuntu in a stick inserted and running fine. This zorin has been unstable at times so i think i will do some os hopping after i get my new email password out. dummy me didnt take that prisoner. Any ideas?

Hi:
I'm not good with Zorin sorry.....from your description it sounds like the update broke something. A friend of mine has been running Elementary OS for a long time and it's been stable so you could give that a spin. https://distrowatch.com/table.php?di...ion=elementary Another distribution I recommend is Linux Mint. It's done very well and is stable.;) https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mint You said your inspiron is 5 years old. Do you suspect that your pc is having hardware issues? There is a tool that you can use to check the health of your hard drive. https://www.techrepublic.com/blog/li...r-hard-drives/ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Smartmontools |
