ok ""stretch" or "testing" which are one and the same." I see. that is why I was so confused about different instructions I had been reading. Some referred to testing and some stretch.

Well now that the display can be turned on, my problem is it is not working properly as I described a few posts back. (did you see the photograph?)

So if I want to see if it works better in stretch, could I just nano my sources.list and change every instance of "jessie" with "stretch" then do "apt-get update" Would that put me on stretch?

You could.... but first of all, be careful. If it asks to remove something you need, don't do it. Mostly libraries should be removed. Second, it would be safer on a fresh, separate install, which is why I recommended that course of action before if you used Stretch. You can't go back to Jessie from Stretch.

And thirdly, it requires both these lines:
