Stopped jobs

I think I finally got the 2nd Hard Drive mounted. You have to use "vfat" for a WIndows 32-bit partition. Why did everyone keep saying to use ext2 or ext3?

But now, after logging in as a user I can't logout.

All I get is the message "There are stopped jobs." Whatever that means.

If they are stopped then why can't I logout? That means they are no longer loaded and running. Right?

I found that I can "kill" each job individually. But, how do I keep this from happening again?

The "stopped" jobs were an "ls" and a "man" that I tried to get out of because I was finished. What is the correct command to "terminate" the job? I had used Ctrl+Z because it took me right back to the command line.

To get out of a man page, press "q".

You can usually kill a job with ctrl+c rather than stop it with ctrl+z

Finally, if you try "logout" and it says "there are stopped jobs", typing "logout" again will automatically kill the stopped jobs and log you out.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

Thanks for the input.

I am trying to read the man and help files but, there always seem to be a little piece of information I can't find and should know.

One day, I will stop being a nuisance. I Hope;~}
