Trixie fails when installing grub

So on a vm Image I'm trying to install Trixie, it goes through the install until it gets to the grub install part. It then fails with this error:
Code:
failed to mount /target/proc/
Mounting the proc file system on /target/proc failed.
Check /var/log/syslog or see virtual console 4 for the details.
Warning: your system might be unbootalbe.
And if I click continue it just loops me through the process again.
I check summed the file so I know it shouldn't be corrupt.
Any Ideas on how to report this as a bug? syslog is empty
screenshot of error attached.

It suggests looking at console 4. You should be able to get there by pressing alt-F4. Post whatever you find there.

I agree with checking that console output.

It might also help if we could know what kind of virtualization and virtual drive you are using.

No, he says he checksummed it.

Unhappy

Okay alt+F4 shows nothing, syslog shows nothing as well.
Someone asked for my virtualization info, I'm using Gnome Boxes and QEMU on a 40 GB Virtual Drive. Kali Linux and Fedora installed no issues, so it's not that I'm kind of sure of.
If it would throw an actual error when it fails to install grub I'd have more to go on but just the screenshot is all I have to go off. I just want to let someone at Debian know so it can get fixed. It's 100% reproducible either on a VM or a actual machine (I've done it on both) and the images doesn't matter if it's local to the VM or on USB. This is like the 8th or 9th image I've downloaded (nightly builds)and it's still broke

I'd just add a new entry to your bootloader by hand. From your description the install itself succeeds, just the bootloader part fails.

If I knew how to, I'd actually like to run the mount command by hand and see if that fails.

Under advance options of the iso use rescue mode to fix the bootloader.

I never get that far, it loops through the grub installer and the only way out is to abort the install. So creating Grub might not be an option either.

Was testing in a vm with the current daily. The problem seems to occur when booting in legacy mode. In uefi mode grub installed without a hitch. In legacy mode I selected to not install a bootloader during installation, after installation rebooted with iso into rescue mode. Opened a shell in the root partition. Apt installed grub-pc, grub-installed /dev/???, update-grub.

so installed in EFI Mode and it worked!
Back to reading I don't remember seeing Grub PC was removed for Trixie. It works now and that's the most important part.
Thanks colorpurple 21859
