Karmas,

If you installed the ati-fglrx with yum, it should have installed fglrxconfig. It's the configuration program for the drivers. Just run that from a terminal and answer the questions. It should have defaults set, so you don't have to come up with configuration information for much of it (like horzontal scan rate). But if you know your monitor's config information, by all means, enter it.

New how-to on it's way!

I wrote this months ago. I'm happy for those people that did get it working. Unfortunatly because linux rapidly changes from month to month so do the installation procedures for various things. I have not yet even tried to install the ATI drivers on the newest Fedora for I am still running the version when I wrote this how-to. I will fully update my install and find the best possible way to install ATI drivers (as bad as they still may be Under linux) and I will then post a new how-to. Until then hold tight.

antidelldude,

Your solution would be very apreciated. In the meanwhile I installed FC4 and the livna ati drivers. The only thing I see changed is during startup there is some checking for ati-drivers. But they are not used. You can read my xorg.conf at http://www.nutri.be/xorg.conf
The hardware: ati mobility radeon x700 PCI Express 128MB VRAM. I'm still hoping for a 1280x800 resolution.

Thanks

I got the livna ati-fglrx drivers to work with decent frame rates. But there is an apparent conflict with some programs. As an example, using Point2Play and Cedega causes the entire machine to lock up in a Windows like fashion. Pretty clearly it's a conflict between the livna ati-fglrx drivers and Cedega. but other things seem to work fine.

So, beware if you use the livna drivers. They aren't perfect.

May be time for me to rethink the ATI card thing and look at nVidia.
