"corrupt kernel image" when booting from disc 1

Hi, I'm trying to install Fedora Core. What I do is put in the disc 1 to boot, and then it says boot:
I put linux check and it tells me that the kernel image is corrupt.
This is the seconed burn that did this, what's up? Can anybody tell?
Or am I supposed to put in a different command for boot: ?

P.S.: Forgive me for having this in two different forums, I put it in "newbies" first, but then thought it would do better here, thanks for concideration.

Unhappy

Yes buddy. Me too having same problem. Dang ....I am so angree.......*************************************************************

I downloaded FC 6 iso's from Fedora's FTP twice with speed of 200 kbps. When i go through iso check process, i get error saying cd is damaged. I checked SHA1 and it matches the sequence given at Fedora's FTP.

What can i say man? I done complete R & D . No problem with media.
I download CD 1 again and burnt at 8x speed on another media. Still shows error. No problem with CD writer. I also burnt Berry Linux 0.75 , Mandriva 2007 last week and i installed Mandriva 2007 on my laptop without any erros. This confirms that no problem with CD writer . So conclusion is images which r uploaded at Fedora's web sites are corrupted i bet. It sounds weird but as i see this thread i am getting confirmed
Damn !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about the CD drive that you are using to install the OS?
Did you try changing that ?

also what do you mean when you say

"When i go through iso check process, i get error saying cd is damaged."
Where do you do that?

regards

While installing Fedora Core 6 , it asks if you want to check media. I am talking about that option. I went though that process and after completion of process it showed me message image is corrupted.

Then you are not facing the same problem as the one faced by the thread starter.
You are able to load your kernel while he is not able to start that process at all.

Also if you are worried about the fact that the ISO check during the installation process is telling you that the CD is not fine... then also you may go with the installation.
I too have faced such problems earlier but the installation has gone fine with me...

regards

Why to change CD drive? As i mentioned even today just 30 minutes ago i burnt data cd succesuly on the same cd rw. Not a problem of cd rom i bet. May be the issue is with compatibilit of Nero burning rom 7.2 or Nero 5.0 version running on Windows 2000 Server . I dont no anyway. I am not gonna do anymore R & D. Enough is enough. Cant spend more time jts to burn cd and throw it and waste money.

I tried the same cd on 3 machines. It shows same error when i follow Check disc option. CD RW on 1 machine is SONY DVD writer very news,
2nd machine is Acer laptop having Combo and third machines is old asembled machines with Samsung cd writer. Same error when i go through CD check process.

Meh...don't help

So now I trashed 6 "disc 1" CDs.
The last one I even burn @ 4x and I still get that.
Either it is the iso file that was uploaded on the Fedora server, or maybe my ISO download was bad...( I get a bunch of disconnects so I needed to use a download manager ).

hmmm...:/

well, it won't work.

Well it could be that those Images are not fine if they are not working correctly.
But you did not reply to my first post

"Did you check the MD5SUM of the ISO files?"

I have the same problem. I've downloaded Fedora Core 5 and 6 and when I check the SHA1 checksum everything checks out fine and dandy. When I do a Media check upon installation attempt I get a "corrupt package or bad disk" error. If I attempt the install I get through to the screen just after the package selection. The hard drive is formatted and then the both Disk 1's (for Fedora 5 and Fedora 6) say that they are missing a package and that the disc drive can not read the media!

Hi,

I also stuck in same problem and wasted 12 hours on installing FC6
media check during setup of FC6-CD-1 Fails and gives error some thing like following:
"Corrupted download or damaged CD Clean your CD and try again"

There is a definite problem with new release of FC6.

Is there any solution from any one?
