hi. i m new to linux. i've run into some installation problem while attempting to install FC4. i dunno if this is a distribution-dependent problem or general linux problem so i'll be posting it here. if i m wrong, will the moderaters kindly move this topic?
i'd download the iso & burn to 4 CDs.
during the installation, i encountered the following:-

i did a Media Check & the Result Failed. so i guess it's a bad disc or corrupted iso.
i take the same CDs to test on computers in the office. Media Check Result Passed! i even checked all the remaining 3 CDs & the result is still positive.
so i proceed to install. surprisingly the installation went on smoothly! it took me further than what i experienced at my home pc. (i didn't install all the way. just testing)
so i've come to a conclusion that there's nothing wrong with the CDs. it's hardware competablility on my home PC. (which is running fine on w2k so it's not faulty hardware)
i've search quite a few forum around (maybe not hard enuff... so forgive this newbie..)
& come across some ppl with similar problem, but with different modeline numbers...
still no solution.
some claimed it's disc problem cos they failed the media check. but not in my case... the CDs i'd tested & it's perfectly fine. (with the PC in my office)
so can someone help me with this? & what is modeline btw, & the numbers, what do they mean? i'd be grateful.
thanks
