It seems they will never get it, $249.00 forintroductory CD, Bill must be kidding us, what's next, big plans accuire whole linux community and SELL crappy linux distro for $250 up. Gee, the next time I'll use MS product, it'll be a nice frisbee out of their MS Linux CD, if I'll get it for free on a warez site.

so funny, i almost forgot to laugh . Microsoft would never get too far into the linux market selling what's supposed to be a free os for THAT MUCH, if he thinks the doj and 18 states are bad suing him, wait untill he get's 10000 some odd people with their own lawyers goin after him. that's what would happen, i think , if gates tried to monopolize the linux market as well, but rest in peace, billy boy sees linux as THE threat against microsoft anyways, so it seems unlikely he will try that, but than again if you can't beat 'em join 'em
I am personally glad it is not real, because I firmly believe that MS could seriously be the only software company in the world that can take such a powerful, secure, and reliable operating system and make it fail at every turn.
Think about it... a Blue Screen of Death for Linux!

blue screen of death for linux? that would be the day I take a revolver to my foot and shoot. you're right, ms linux would suck, and gates would probably charge an arm an a leg for "upgrades" that fix the bugs and add new ones

If you took a revolver to your foot, you could then pay for some of the upgrades!
Stay awake. There have been many rumors floating around concerning MS consulting with lawyers about potential holes in the GPL. This is probably just fabricated rumor but still scary to think about.
A proprietary MS Linux that sucks so bad that it would destroy the conception of Linux as a stable alternative.
Yeah, but the ideals would still live on. So there may be loopholes in the GPL (or BSD licences - I haven't actually read either fully), but it would be very hard to prevent hackers from doing their thing, especially if their thing is free (as in speech or beer). How can you possibly ensure that unless said hacker charges for his/her code they will go to court?
