What if you need Windows for 2 programs that are too big to run under wine? You don't give much of an option here.

As I have no programs I can't live without there is no place for Win on my hard disks. At the worst there is Windows on my brother's PC.

Does running Windows in emulation count? I do that sometimes...heh.

I've passed my main .NET classes for my college work, so I'm in the clear to run *just* Gentoo, perhaps dualbooted with OpenBSD or FreeBSD.

Being a gamer at heart, no, not until those game developers start build games natively for Linux.

For a while I actually did get rid of windows completely on my laptop, only to re-install it again. Linux is of course still my main OS and I boot that 99% of the time. But sometimes I really need windows (hey, it's still a windows world ) for for example MS Office and when OOffice just won't cut it.

I did that on a dell latitude. At work, when we replace old computers, I'll wipe the drives and then install Linux. We don't want any of our own files or records on the drives and you can't legally leave Windows on if you are getting rid of the machine.

Depends on what computer. On my laptop I have nothing other than linux installed. But on my main computer I have windows 2000 installed, in case I ever need it for something.

No.

Why?

Better to have something and never use it then not have it and need it later.

I'm trying to image off a copy of Win2k, and once I do, I'll be using that with me, alongside Linux. Linux is great, but until Loki rises from the dead and trades copies of Alpha Centauri with me, sadly I'll have to use 2000 once in a while.

I'll be keeping my windows to use for myself about 1 hr a day for a program that is for my small business. I share this desktop with my wife and that's the other reason. I have plenty of hd space so no problem.
