KDE5 Slackware 15 - Prepopulate with Xterm, and other apps

I think I just need a pointer. I have several desktops, spread on several monitors. It would be nice to pre-populate xterms in certain locations, on some of those monitors.

Is there a better term?

Where should I be looking for how to do this?

Thanks.

KDE can save window positions and restore them at boot https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/plas...ver/index.html

You could take a look at devilspie or devilspie2.
But I haven't tested it in KDE.

Is there anything which will let me run a "script" to open some windows, on demand?

To start a script automatically on login for the user currently logged in KDE, open "Settings" -> "System Settings" in the KDE menu, navigate "Startup and Shutdown" -> "Autostart" and add an entry for the script you want to be started.

To create an autostart of the script for all users, create a .desktop file in /etc/xdg/autostart/ or copy one over from /usr/share/applications/ and edit it. This needs to be done with "root" priviliges. You could also create a symbolic link instead of copying, in case the .desktop file doesn't need to be changed.

EDIT: For starting a script on demand, either open a terminal window and launch it from there, or to create a desktop icon, rightclick the desktop background and "Create New" -> "link to Application", if that's what you prefer.

EDIT2: Now I tested devilspie2 in KDE5 and it woks.
