"Simple Root Actions Menu" Service in Dolphin

Hello!
I recently installed Debian 8 and struggle with one issue:
Running Dolphin i want to access a folder owned by root with drwx------. I figured that one possibility is to enable the "Simple root actions menu". When downloading it says "installation failed" with no further explaination. Also i'm asked to accept an untrusted certificate for a weird regional domain. I don't know what to do with this information, what is the best thing to do to achive my goal?

Thank you in advance

A simple workaround would be to open a terminal and enter "kdesu dolphin", this will load dolphin as root.

Note that this WILL allow you to destroy your setup if you do the wrong thing (as may the "Simple root actions menu").

thanks for the answer.
Sudo somehow can't connect a gui application to the x-server in debian 8. Also any solution involving kdesu or gksu isn't what i was looking for. I'm careful to use these workarounds because of security issues and because it is also complicated to realize.

The most convenient thing would be opening a folder owned by root in dolphin, entering the password and open/edit files with e.g. kate by right-click menu entry, and going back to normal user when saving and exiting the folder, effectively providing a simple password protection to a folder (or a file).
Ist there a way to do this? Would that be troublesome in any way or cause potential security issues?

As far as i understand the "Simple root actions"-Service provide this. I would be glad for any hints or tipps why the installation fails and why dolphin wants to accept a certificate from this weird domain when loading the addons available for download. Why does it do that?

I'm not sure how to put this in words:

The big picture would be dolphin should grant temporary full acces to sudoers for directories in /home after command prompt. It seems simple to use native ownership to me.

Is this possible/does that make sense?

That's correct, and not just for Debian, which is why kdesu and gksu are used for this.

This just means that the site doesn't have a current certificate from a trusted third party to say that the site is secure. It may be that the certificate has expired and not yet been renewed or it may be that a certificate was never issued. For more details try a web search for "what is a domain certificate".

I've no experience with "Simple root actions", so I can't answer your other questions.

Thank you. I solved it so far, using the line

Quote:
kdesu application /path/to/file
as quick command. Still looking for a way to assign a custom quick command to a shortcut. Otherwise that thread would be solved.

Add it under your extra places in dolphin (if you're worried about desktop security, using that script is IMHO a worse idea).

One can also just select "open as other user" pick "root" and open it like that (you might have to add a kdesu shortcut to /usr for this).
