I'm having a display/desktop manager/font/? problem. After I installed "Xorg" and ran "startx", it exhibited a strange thing - when I press "Backspace", it didn't delete the character, but draws two additional empty squares to the right from it. Nothing of this kind happens in plain console. To my understanding, it's not a keyboard problem, because the character really gets deleted (e.g. if I type "lss" and press "Backspace", I see "lss**", where ** are two empty squares; after I press "Enter", the "ls" command is normally executed).
I can't understand what causes this strange behavior. Any ideas?
what keyboard driver is listed in xorg.conf? and what kind of keyboard do you have? is it ps/2 or usb? what video card/drivers? this is on the FC3 box or LFS?
1. Keyboard: It's plain simple ps/2 keyboard (I'l check the driver though);
2. Video card: nVidia Vanta using the original "nv" driver (couldn't install the nVidia driver, but this is, probably, a different story);
3. It all refers to LFS
btw, while you're checking the driver (off the top of my head it probably should be "kbd" for a basic keyboard) did it ever work on this OS and hardware and then it stopped working right with the upgrade, or is it a new install that has never worked so far? what happens if you do ctrl + backspace?

do you use a stand en.US layout?
If so try this in your xorg.conf for the Section "InputDevice" for keyboard
1. I checked the keyboard driver and it is "kbd".
2. It's not an upgrade or something -- I tried twice to get it work but with no luck
3. I tried to change "xorg.conf" but nothing happened. My Gnome asked me to choose between X and Gnome keyboard settings. Both options produce the same annoying behavior.
P.S.: I start thinking that it's due to "nv" video driver, because the "backspace" key actually works, it's just the terminal (and any editor) that displays those two squares.

It's definitely not because of "nv" or "nvidia" driver. I installed nVidia video driver -- no change. Can it be because of a (corrupted, badly configured, ?) package I installed before installing "Xorg"? Maybe a graphic library or something...
