OK, next question. I followed all of sirra462's instructions to the letter now. fglrx and agpgart now show up when I run lsmod, but both still have a value of 0. I also ran fglrxinfo and it's still showing the MESA drivers. I tried these instructions from a fresh install.
How can you switch over to the ATI drivers from MESA without having to do another fresh install?
cjcrook. Are you using the newer drivers or the old drivers? I fell into a somwwhat similar situation, and i re did all of the steps for the newer drivers, exept this time following the offical SuSE readme. try that.
BHWJaF ! Im getting verry irratated. I reinstalled SuSE. Now i run through the enitre thing and have tried both drivers. And it doesnt work! fglrx doesnt even show up in lsmod! im very annoyed now
Originally posted by raphandmon Cannot get agpgart to load, tried all of the details as above: comes up with the info below when insmod agpgart is run, any ideas?
Using /lib/modules/2.4.21-166-default/kernel/drivers/char/agp/agpgart.o
/lib/modules/2.4.21-166-default/kernel/drivers/char/agp/agpgart.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
fglrx is loading fine, and agpgart tries to load but fails as above when the system is booted. I am a newbie, so this may be something straight forward. The apgart.o file is present as well in the correct folder above.
I'm having the same problem, does anyone know whats happening ? I have an ati9600XT and i still can't get it work on suse 9 kernel 2.4 help plz tks
