HP Desk Jet 4155e

I can't print anything at all since I added this printer.

My trusted HP 1200 PSC worked very well, until it died (moved). In an emergency, i purchased a never used HP DJ 4155e PSC, but I can't print a test page, or anything else. The print queue says, "waiting."

Too many solutions I see posted do not work for me, due to different setups.

The printer is enabled, but prints nothing.

HPLIP is installed as well.

I am using Mint Linux 21. With plenty of free space.

What else can I try?

THX for a solution,

Salman

Since you don't tell us what you've done/tried or what you see past "waiting", there isn't a lot we can tell you. How did you install this printer? How did you configure it through HPLIP? Have you checked the CUPS admin page (http://localhost:631) to see what's going on?? Can't tell you what else to try since we have no idea what you've done.

Lots of guides on how to set up such printers:

Duuh...

I have tried to print a test page, and printing an existing text file in my home directory, but neither makes the printer respond. In the queue, there is ONLY processing, nothing more. I'll go to the cuos admin page now.....

Yes, you said you tried to print a test page...what you didn't say was how you tried to install the drivers, how this is connected to your system (wifi? LAN cable? USB?), or anything else. Without knowing what you've already tried, we have no idea what to tell you to attempt, do we?

You did not answer the questions.
How is the printer connected? USB or wireless?

The printer is IPP everywhere supported so hopefully it is automatically recognized without doing anything. As suggested look at the cups web page http://localhost:631/printers

Is there more then one print queue?

Is cups running?

sudo systemctl start cups

To verify

sudo systemctl status cups

Now try to access the web page.

This is usable information. Have you started the service, or checked it?? ("sudo service cups start" or "sudo service cups status")??? Have you installed the latest HPLIP (what version do you have now?)

Yes, the HPLIP was updated this morning, cups was also started; at this time, I feel a different brand of printer may be the solution, I have never liked the 4155e, and it has never liked me.

Still, I cannot access cups administration for some reason.

Too much trouble to print 2 pages, do I want this????????

The 1410 PSCs are @ $100 with shipping, but it worked beautifully. A used laser could work too. Generally, I'd be more interested in a different brand, but I don't want a printer that needs 6 cartridges, 2, or 3 is enough.

The web page might not be enabled. Does the status output show it running?

Strangely, the files I need to print finally printed. I was playing around with several settings, I have no clue what I did, but something triggered the printer to print.

All of this hassle for simple files, HP printers are whack these days.

Still no clue how to help with a problem description of "for some reason". Most likely the service wasn't started, which you were asked about and given a command to run to check and/or start it. Did you try those???

I've had zero problems with any of them. And again, you give no information that would help anyone else with a similar issue when saying things like "playing around with several settings". Which settings, how?? Any clues can help folks.
