Hello all,
I have installed RH7.1 in my laptop. The built-in touchpad is working fine. However, I want to add an external usb mouse(Microsoft IntelliMouse). I wonder if it's ok to have two mice work at the same time. I found the usb one didn't work no matter how setting I make. My current setting in XF86Config-4 is that
By the way , it reports error when I run the command mouseconfig, the error reads that the /etc/sysconfig/mouse has something wrong. Here is the content of that file

well thats cuz your XF86Config is using the ps/2 protocol for your mouse. You have to recompile your kernel to add USB and full HID support and then change the mouse protocol to, probably imps/2 and it should work flawlessly....
yeah, i guess the most important thing to look for now is HID support in your kernel. should be in the USB section (if i remember correctly). sounds like it might not be enabled. might also be a good idea to let us know what distro you're running.
and quite honestly, these sort of things are the type that you just need to play around with and figure out yourself. every time you run into a problem you should do extensive troubleshooting before posting a message here expecting a quick fix.
