Question Monitor incompatible?

Hi! I'm a newbie as is my wife. She's a bit more of a newbie than I am. I have a question about a compatibility issue with her monitor. It is a
Viewsonic E90 and was made in 1995.

The only operating system it will accept (so far) is Fedora's most recent release. I tried that after trying Debian, which I use. I also tried Mint Linux and Ubuntu. They all boot up and install fine, but when it gets to the login page there are only vertical lines of green, brown, etc. I'd just leave Fedora on it, however it freezes up trying to do the most basic of things.

So would you folks think it is the monitor? I can't figure out what else it would be and I hate wasting cdrs (all my cd-rw's are in use!)

Thanks and hope you all are having a good one. John

Nah, its a problem with your video card. It could be solved by using a different driver, or by updating your system. What type of card is it?

I don't know why I didn't think of that. I've yet to find out what card it is as I had to quit fooling with it for a while. Will let you know and thank you very much!
