Very good my friend. These are the drivers the people in this thread have been seeking and posting. Anyone know of any that are for the 2.6 kernel and still free? I think it's absurd that I have to pay $15 to get my hardware to work simply because I choose to use a superior operating system.

As I said before, buy a cheap external serial port modem and demand your money or an exchange back for that piece of trash.

Well, I have installed the Beta version of Mandrake 64bit. I think my modem is from Well Communications with a CX11252-11 chip.

Could be a driver will not be available very soon I think, reading all this.
So a hardware modem could be an option. Specially if it is not much more expensive than the Linuxant license. Or an other, well supported software modem.

Is a hardware modem really faster ? I suppose it should be if it's processor can handle the maximum speed, and it would free the CPU of the computer. What would be a good choses ? I don't seem to find the one suggested in this treat on an European website.

For my telephone dialup connection here in the backwoods of the USA, I have experienced connects with much less re-tries, better download speeds, better upload speeds, and faster browsing with any external serial port (not usb) modems. I have tried several pci hardware modems as well and the lights are pretty in the dark (even if you run gkrellm).

I even had the early driver for the conexant modem in the Best Bye box I ignorantly bought working, but it crashed Linux as much as it did Windows. The modem cured the Linux crashing and writing the trememdously large messages log file.

I had hope for Windows using it, but it didn't help Windows much except for improving internet performance, but Windows would keep on crashing.

Thanks, I will try to find some modem here that has good Linux support and I will put it in my cavern dwelling here in Europ.

I'm a newbie too! Where would I find drivers for Broadxent DSI V.92 PCI modem? I can't get Fedora Core 1 to find it in auto detect and would like to use it cause all I have is dial up access where I live at. If anyone out there can help with this it would be greatly appreciated.
