The system is a 5.1 surround sound with an AV receiver connected to the Nvidia video card's HDMI port.
When I first installed the OS, Ubuntu 22.04, audio refused to work, but thanks to the following it worked.

After digging through the internet I was able to find that the error was due to ubuntu automatically applying power control on the sound card and so I was able to get it working by editing the nvidia rules file in ubuntu bios rules directory. In that file you just need to switch the "auto" setting in the last couple lines to "on".

I also installed Pavucontrol, which enables me to adjust the output volume of the 5 speakers individually.
I had a similar issue where video display settings wouldn't save after reboot.
Thankfully I was able to use an xrand command to assingn the display settings through terminal and have it execute at user account long:
Create a, setup_monitor_display file in directory, ~/.config/autostart/
Make it executable, chmod +x, then execute gnome-session-properties in terminal
Then call the settings file, sh -c '~/.config/autostart/setup_monitor_display
I was wondering if there's a similar resolution with pavucontrol?
I've attached an image of my desired settings.
