Linux kernel is missing since software update

I have a Manjaro linux computer. During an update the kernel was somehow lost. This was about 2 years ago. It will not boot. The computer is apparently dead and useless without a kernel. Is there some way to get a kernel for this computer or should I just throw it in the garbage can?
Thanks for your reply. Sharon

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

It is probably due to some other error but after two years there is probably nothing you might want to recover from the computer so I would suggest trying to reinstall Manjaro or some other distribution from scratch. Since we do not know the hardware specifications or if it is at least working hardware try downloading the current Manjaro ISO, write it to a USB drive and see if it boots.

You have not told much.

Did you have boot mounted when you updated? That is where the kernel lives. How do you know that the kernel is missing? What bootloader are you using? Is it a UEFI machine? You may need to reinstall grub.

An arch like machine not updated in 2 years. You may want to reinstall. Although that can be brought up to date.

You'll need to give more info.

I'm inclined to agree with michaelk that a reinstall is probably the easyist fix.

If you have any vital data stored on this box, you could boot to a Live CD/USB of something and back up that data to external media before reinstalling.

To anyone who cares:

I keep getting messages to mark this SOLVED. This is my notice to everyone out there. I CONSIDER THIS SOLVED. I DO NOT WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS ANYMORE. If you have a problem with that then you mark it solved. I am not blocking emails to this site. I have already told you many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, times I am through with Linux. Accept that and go on with your lives.

settle down...

why not just install another Linux disto 2 years ago is a long time and outdated by now. it would be easier to install something else.

You did??? You made two posts here...this is the second, not sure where the "many, many, etc." comes from. And your initial post was just a few days ago, asking about getting a new kernel for your Linux system.

Either reinstall or use Windows. Either way, your problem will be fixed...hard to know why someone would wait two years to attempt any solutions, then post this kind of response to those trying to help.
