Unasked change from Ethernet USB Tethering to Mobile Broadband and not working afterwards
Hi
I connected my phone to my Debian10 pc, through a usb cable, in order to use its Internet connection through mobile data.
The Network Manager aplet, informs me that its installed as "Wired Ethernet USB Tethering", and works like wonders.
The problem comes at about 1 minute has passed, that the connection disappears, and gets changed to a "Mobile Broadband"... but it doesn't work, or I don't know how to use it. Its the first time I see this kind of connection, btw.
I have read that the "Mobile Broadband" is the wanted type of connection for the future, but I don't want it, if it makes my life harder.
I'm currently connecting through a wifi hotspot, set from my phone; but that is not a desirable solution for me, for I have difficult neighbors that hack in, to use my paid internet access.
Questions:
Is there a way for me to use the "wired Ethernet USB tethering", that works and is automatically set at first, without it changing to "Mobile Broadband"?
Or is there a way to properly use the "Mobile Broadband", that the Network Manager app says its there, but it doesn't activate in the Network Settings of said app?

I'm not entirely sure what's happening there, but to me it just sounds like labeling.
As long as the internet connection goes from your phone through your USB cable into your computer, what does it matter what it's called?
No, guys, Its not a problem of labeling, may be so with the provider.. But the thing is: that it automatically changes the connection type (after less than a minute has passed), that the system itself auto installs and configures and that works, all that as soon as I connect the usb cable; for a Mobile Broadband one, removing the previous working one, and leaving me with the change, that doesn't work for me and I don't want.
The steps:
1-Connect the usb cable
2-prepare the phone to use the Mobile Data
3-Tell the phone to share the conn through usb
4-Network Manager tells me that a USB Ethernet Tethering connection is found and installed.
5-The system tells me that I have a connection with the Internet established.
6-Rock and Roll!
7-The connection is shutdown, and disappears from the Network Manager's list, less than a minute has passed.
8-A Mobile Broadband appears in the established connection's stead. No connection established....
9-I go to the Network Settings of the Network Manager, to see what happened, and find the new Mobile Broadband connection to be there and disabled.
10- I try to enable it, it does nothing.
11-There is a choice to create a new connection inside the Mobile Broadband settings, so I press there.. And the Network Manager window disappears, it did nothing.
12-I go to the Network Manager again, and the Mobile Broadband is listed and selected as if functioning, but: TADAAA! Nothing works, and it has no settings, no status, no nothing...
13-Look on the Internet, to find a solution to whats happening.. but I have not found proper related topics.
14-Came to you guys..
How long exactly does it take for your first succesful internet connection to drop?
Is it the same time each time?
I don't see how it could be relevant, but: does your laptop have wifi or a mobile broadband card itself? If yes, is there a SIM card in the laptop's mobile broadband slot?
Does your phone share its internet connection over the air, as well? That would be called a wifi hotspot, but who knows maybe there's another choice?
I tried what user: "ondoho" suggested could be the solution, but it's not that. At least it didn't solve the problem.
Mine is an "Android 7.0 LG-H87" device.
My Laptop, is an extremely old one, a Dell Core 2 Duo. It has not a SIMM slot.
The wifi hotspot is how I'm connecting, to post this message; but as I stated, it is not a desired option.
Roundabout solutions could be useful, but don't solve the problem at hand.
The issue remains: How do I avoid my Debian10 automatic change of the connection type? Or: How do I make the normal USB Tethering connection, the first one, to remain?
ondoho: You did posted a search result, and links to possible solutions.
The answer for your questions were answered, before you posted before you asked:
-time to drop, and change conn type, is less than a minute, every time.
-No, it's not a problem with the phone. What I didn't say, is that it works fine under the unnameable MsWindows7 but, I dislike turning back to that, since I'm very confty with my Debian. Win7 doesn't install any Mobile Broadband crap...
Thanx for the attention, ondoho, it's very appreciated.
