ppp died unexpectedly

hihi..

trying to build a dial up server here.
My client dial in was connecting alrite yesterday, but suddenly today hits this msg that says
"PPP died unexpectedly"
the log file say: invalid netmask value 'crtscts'

1. anyone knows what is happening??
2. How to solve it??
3. does the client recieve the netmask from the server or does it self assign?? (which machine is at fault?)

what's the dial up server software?
there's probably something in /etc/ppp (maybe options file) or your dial up server software's config that says "netmask" and there's no number after it.

client recieves the netmask from the server

What do u mean by server software?? if u are refering to the following ...
I have mgetty installed
using apache as web server (haven't done anything to it yet)

my setting for etc/ppp/options
asyncmap
netmask 255.255.255.0
proxyarp
lock
crtscts
modem
