Exclamation [screen command] permission denied

First, I tried to dump a layout with
Code:
$ screen -r old-session
:layout dump ~/screen-layout
which gave a Permission denied error. Then I killed the old screen session, tried to create a new one with
Code:
$ screen -S new-session
and it returned a Permission denied too. So then, I tried to only run screen with
Code:
$ screen
and still the Permission denied error. Did I miss something?

It's remote computer, I don't have the admin rights on it. Even changing the shell from bash to zsh is impossible: zsh is not installed...

No, you run 'sudo screen' locally and now it cannot access its sessions. Check the local screen's socket directory for files owned by root.

Some tasks are not meant to be done by a regular user... that's it.
When I worked (I am retired now) as programmer in an IBM midframe platform, I had a thankless task of being Security Officer
at the same time. Others were jealous and asked for exceptions. When we have exceptions than we have no security.

Today it works, I can reattach my former session... Go figure (won't call the admins, they're not available for this kind of no-issues)

But now, when I try to save the layout with:
Code:
C-a :layout dump
it says
Code:
Error dumping layout.: Permission denied
If I give a file name, that exists or not, the error message is the same. Any idea? (As the long as the remote keeps the session, no need to save the layout though. No big deal now...)
