Difference between current state and snapshot in virtualbox

If I want to go back to the original install of linux in virtual box,is that the current state or the snapshot?

What searches did you do before posting that didn't give you the answer?

Or, put another way, putting your thread title into a search engine links to the official virtualbox documentation for snapshots which explains both what "current state" is and how snapshots work.

So if I do a mistake in the current state, do I delete the current state? Current state of your VM is a variation based on the snapshot you took earlier.

Hey linux-man,

I don't use snapshots in Virtualbox. However, intuitively, I believe "current state" refers to the most recent "state" of your VM ... i.e. - the one you are currently using. My understanding of the snapshot feature is that, to do what you want to do (return to the initial post-installation of your Linux VM), you would have had to "take a snapshot" at that time.

All : please correct me if I'm wrong here.

Cheers,

Rick

Is there a reason you don't?

I have 3 snapshots yet snapshot number 2 seems to be in bold white font only, any idea why?

My god. Yes. The poster does not need that.
I use a lot of VMs and I have never made snapshots. Sometimes recreating the VM is much faster and there is no need to handle different kind of backups. Do not store valuable information inside the VM.

By recreating you mean cloning?
