Been reading that a specific kernel is required to use Linux on a Surface Pro, so want to ask if there are any recommendations for a new (ish) user of Linux for a distro, suited to Audio production, that I could try?
I have used Linux (Manjaro, Elementary and KX) in the past, but they were on a standard architecture PC.

And what's not standard about a Surface Pro, as opposed to any other laptop? What model surface pro are you talking about? There are many threads on here about this, and I've used openSUSE with no problems on an SP3 to SP7.
And you can always boot a live version of Linux off USB to see how things work, which is far easier than guessing. What specific problems do you anticipate, and what did you read?

Ummm, supported?? As stated, works fine for me, and has from SP3 to SP7 using openSUSE. There is Ubuntu Touch that is designed for such devices, and Mint supports it as well. And as stated, you can try it from a live USB to see for yourself. There are projects that aim to do things like multi-touch, and it also depends on the desktop environment...for KDE, at least, it works for me.

Ok cool thanks - I had read when researching earlier today, that default Linux distros did not necessarily fully support touch screen ops on the surface, and that there were specific kernels for using on same.
I guess the question should have been more specific in does Manjaro, MX and Elementary distros support SP touch, but having said that I suppose I'd need to log in to all those forums to find out
