Optical Labtec Mouse big problems annoying as crap

My labtec optical mouse has the most annoying quirk i have ever experiance with a mouse before. If you move the mouse slowly, the pointer doesn't move at all, you have to move the mouse using a strong and steady hand. It's way more annoying than it actually sounds and I just can't get over it. I've tried using all of the different types of mouse configurations to no avail. I experiance this problem on all linux distros I have tried so far (only mdk, rh)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
