syslog-ng install....problem

hi,
i tried to run syslog-ng instead of the "normal" syslog, so i downloaded the last stable version (1.4...) and the needed library libol.

first of all , i cd'ed to libol....and did "./configure && make && make install"
after that, i cd'ed to my syslog-ng directory doing a "./configure" , then "make" and after all "make install".

if i execute syslog-ng it sais "cannot find "/etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf", i tried to find /etc/syslog-ng/ , but it wasn't there, although everything seems to have worked correctly.
I also did a ./mkinstalldirs , because I thought it would create the dir, but the same error after that.

Any idea what i can do now ?

ps. :
redhat 7.1.
kernel 2.4.2

Depends on *where* you would want the syslog-ng.conf.
FSSTND/FHS compliant installs should default to /etc IMO, and if the dir will only contain the conf file it's a waste.
So it's either back to --configure --sysconfdir=/etc, which should put the file as /etc/syslog-ng.conf, or if you don't wanna bother simply mkdir /etc/syslog-ng and put yer syslog-ng.conf there.

/* Btw, this question should be in /General, because it relates to config/compile probs and not security (vulnerability|issue|question|hack|crack|exploit|bug|report|like that) */
