Make Linux act as a internet router (NAT table) with Web content filtering

Hij =)

I want to make the folowing network in my school :

Internet >> Internet modem + router >> LINUX SERVER >> Clients (over 200)

What can I use on the LINUX SERVER node to have web content filtering so I can block some sites from opening from the client computers. I've read up on DansGuardin but it uses a proxy and I can not configure every node from the clients to use a web proxy I mean it's inpossible and its damn to complex to maintaint.

I've read up on Web content wiltering with untange linux distro but that distro is just for that and I want this setup to be universal so I can install any distro I want on the server. The server is a powerfull Xeon server 2 CPUs and 2Gigs of ram so it can handle the trafic though its 2 gigabit NICs from the clients.

I assume I would need to use a firewall so I can make a NAT table and forward all trafic from eth0 for example through the web filter and on to eth1 which will be connected directly to the internet router and have an internet connection.

Thanks in advance !

This information is abundant and easily accessed via a quick Google search. Here is one of many instructional web pages.

Will I need to do any configuration on the client whatsoever ? Cos' squid is a proxy, and doesn't the client web browser need to be configured to use the IP of the server where the proxy is installed ?
