Question STONITH to shutdown a vmware node on ESX 2.5

Hi,

I try to find some information for my cluster test system.

I have a cluster of 2 node on a VMware ESX 2.5 server.

The two node are configurated with heartbeat.

If one node fail, the other node take the cluster IP address and mount the shared file system (a VMDK file on the ESX server)

I want to be sure the 2 node won't mount the shared disk at the same time. So I want VMware to shutdown the malfunctioning node.

I found that STONITH is supposed to be able to do that with "external/vmware" plugin, but don't find any information on it. don't know how it works and what the script has to look like.

If someone could help me,

Thanks,

SaRgE

AFAIK the script that is included in Stonith is http://hg.linux-ha.org/dev/file/tip/...xternal/vmware, and the params are explained at http://www.linux-ha.org/ExternalStonithPlugins. The most talk about your issue will be on the http://lists.linux-ha.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-ha where you can also find the http://lists.community.tummy.com/pipermail/linux-ha/ or search through them through say http://www.gossamer-threads.com/list...;;list=linuxha. This may look like a RT(F)M kind of answer but at least it has more specific pointers than the usual "go google for it" ones.

Thanks for the reply. Before I had poisted this question, I had already searched google, linux-ha website, and linux-ha mailling list without success.

I know I need to add something like: "stonith external/vmware /etc/ha.d/vmware.cfg" in my ha.cf config file.

But I don't know what to put in the "vmware.cfg" file. They tell to put "parm1-value parm2-value ..."

How do I set the IP or hostname of the vmware ESX host, the user/password for the SSH, and the command to execute to shutdown the virtual machine.

Tanks
