ALSA Upgradation

I have Creative SB Live 5.1 Sound Card. From some source i came to know that Alsa-1.0.8 and Kernel 2.6.11-1.14 works best in distro FC3 with this sound card. As it is known that FC3 comes with Alsa-1.0.6 by default, I am unable to upgrade it in Alsa-1.0.8. Whenever I run the rpm of Alsa-1.0.8 with -Uvh options it said that Dependences failed. I even added --force but the result is same.
The problem i am facing is that my sound card runs well with the sound softwares but not with the ASTERISK based phones. SKYPE, Kphone, Gnophone and all others showed problem and doesnt play sound. The call used to get established without any sound.
