Hello, welcome to LQ.

To properly answer your question we need to know which distribution and version of Linux you use, so please post that information.

Uninstall thunderbird-10.0

I did the command:
"su
yum remove thunderbird"

and everything seemed
to work. Then I looked with

"locate thunderbird"

if the libraries and file were removed,
but they were still there.

/home/myname/.thunderbird/
/home/myname/.local/share/Trash/files/Thunderbird/.thunderbird/
/home/myname/Desktop/mozilla-thunderbird.desktop/
/usr/bin/thunderbird/
/usr/share/applications/mozilla-thunderbird.desktop/
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/
/var/lib/yum/yumdb/t/a57d5d8161b5a................b71f8a1-thunderbird-10.0.5-2.el6_2-i686/

Nos of files were about 270.

My son said it must be hardware problem?

Some other ideas about this problem?

Thanks
ostene

locate looks up the location of files from a file generated yesterday. thats why it is returning files that were just removed. you can try find / -name thunderbird for a real-time list of files but of coarse it will take much longer to finish.

Or you could run "updateb" as root then "locate thunderbird" again.

Please note that files in /home/yourname should not be erased - otherwise you would loose your contacts and mail
