I'm installing the SAMBA Web Admin Tool ( SWAT ) off the Red Hat installation CDs but the install process doesn't like the fact that I don't have the Red Hat Public Key on my machine. I try to issue the command
#rpm -import /usr/share/rhn/RPM-GPG-KEY
but then the system just sits there and never comes back to me. I have to do a Ctrl-C to get back to a prompt.
I moved to a second Red Hat install running on a vmware virtual machine on different hardware ( same RH version and same install media used). No problems importing the public key this time. Must be something iffy with my
first machine. However I now get an error as below
rpm.error: public key not available
Here are my steps if anyone can shed further light:
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm

Whoever you are you have a great talent for providing absolutely useless information.
Do both of us a favour and don't waste my time reading your silly replies. Only reply to this thread if you have some constructive advice about my issue. No vague generalisations please!
Yes I've tried Google before posting anything to this forum and I get many hits on rpm.error public key ie lots of people having the same issue but no suggested fixes. If you can see something that I'm not seeing then do let me now.
