OK, understand that. Any way to undo whatever I have messed up?
Not without a windows cd/iso, but if it works after you reboot, then you don't have to worry about it. The best thing to do now is reboot and see what happens.
If it booted into windows again, you don't need the windows iso image, and I don't know how to make it boot to linux mint.
I'm out of ideas. Sorry I wasn't able to help you. The only other way you may be able to run mint is to reformat the whole drive to dos instead of gpt, but that may make the computer unbootable. The only other way is to install to an external drive or a usb that is 32GB or bigger. The other option is to run the mint iso in persistence mode. However running from an external drive tends to make the system slow due to read/write speeds to the external drive.

Thank you very much colorpurple21859. You have helped me, I have learned a few things, and I do apologize for being such bumbling student. Mechanical things I grasp easily, but other things such as math, music, electronics, and the inner workings of computers just don't soak in very well for me.
Mint is usable as is, I just don't like having top go in the back door to get into it. I'll take a break from this and try to fix the washer which quit yesterday, I think I can handle that if it's fixable. Meanwhile I'll see if I can find my Linux for Dummies book and study use of the command line, that's my stumbling block with Linux.
Again I thank you for the patience you have shown with me, and I hope you can grow back the hair I've caused you to pull out.
