Did you got any error messages while creating the USB?
Take a look at
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/running...sta/#more-1245
and perhaps
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/category/tools/

I would suggest to restart from scratch.

I actually google the error and this forum was the first hit. So I figured if I can't find the help I need here, then I won't find it anywhere.

When I go to reboot my laptop, it says invalid or damaged bootable partition.
This is the errormessage you get.

I asked if you got error messages "during" creation of the USB.

Did you even tried to do the install again?
Perhaps you over looked some error messages.
Did you even look at the links?

I got no error from the USB install. Only when I tried to boot up from the USB. I did look at the links but I am big-time computer illiterate. LOL.

I could not make any cds linus. The cd burner on my work computer is broken. So I'm stuck like chuck with no rubber duck.

First try to see if your computer can boot from usb
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/testing...lity/#more-231
If this works, try to do the install again from scratch.

Good job.
There is another poster using Mint and having trouble getting wireless connected too.
I suggest you use the Mint package manager and enter keywords like "wireless", etc
in the search box.

I will try that. Thanks
I go to hardware drivers and try to activate the driver but it keeps saying it's downloading the driver and the window closes after it does. Then I click activate again and it keeps downloading. It won't let me activate the driver.

Huh?
No, it installs it automatically.
or it should...
the pkg manager should have tools in it to help get everything
working, look over all the apps when you search pkg manager
use "wireless" or similar or type in the driver name or maker.
