no trailing slash -> apache redirect to microsoft site?

i'm running apache-1.3.28 on slackware 9.1 with pretty standard settings. for some reason when an address doesn't have a trailing slash, it redirects to the microsoft website! any idea how i can prevent this nonsense?

Use the search feature here. Try looking for 'apache trailing slash' (without quotes).

This question gets asked about once a week (tho the microsoft bit is a new twist).

I'm surprised it doesn't drop you on the windows 2000 server site.

Hi,

I had the same problem like most of us:
http://www.myserver.com/directory - does not work
http://www.myserver.com/directory/ anoying.. but works

well...

I only changed "UseCanonicalName on" to "UseCanonicalName Off"

and .. now I'm smiling ...

I just changed changed "UseCanonicalName On" to "UseCanonicalName Off", restarted Apache, and I'm smiling to!!!!!!! Yippppeee!!! NO more microsoft on my websites!!!!!!

you bloody ripper!!! after i cleared my cache and cookies everything worked!!! UseCanonicalName was my problem after trying to stuff around with FQDN for days!!! thank you gys heaps!
