Thumbernails bigger than 256 x 256?

Both gThumb and Geeqie image viewers have limited maximum size for thumbernails.

Is there any way to work with bigger thumbernails (or slide photos)?

You should have a look at ImageMagick: http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/thumbnails/
