glad to be here

Hi all-

My name is Dave...I am always scoping out linux forums to pick up on things: new security issues, compilation issues, general configuration tips...and yes for answers to things i simply cannot figure out. I'm glad to be aboard!

I've used Knoppix and Slax and Ubuntu live versions - never had any problems with them at all. I just booted from the cds and they just worked. Can't tell you about the modem as I don't use dial up at all.

On my laptop, I hold down f12 on boot and then change the icon to cd
