"Linux From Scratch" forum renamed?

I thought I might bring up this point... Recently a lot of new folks have been posting threads in the Linux From Scratch forum that are really meant for newbie, general, or other forums.

In a couple of replies, I mentioned that they might like to ask a moderator to move the post to another forum to get better visibility for their problem, but I feel like a total jerk because I'm sure I come off as "hey, don't post in here". I just thought I'd suggest changing the name of the forum from "Linux From Scratch" to "LFS". I can see how new folks might get confused by the name as it is now... That is, they want to learn Linux from scratch, not build Linux from scratch. Only folks familiar with the Linux From Scratch project would readily identify with LFS.

I just thought changing the name would help direct people to the right forum, where they could get their problems answered sooner. Am I nit-picking, or does anybody else see merit to this??

Hmm.. good point. I remember before I gave LFS a try, or even knew what it was, that I would think a similar thing. Might be something to consider???

Cool

I'm not sure if changing it from Linux from Scratch to LFS will solve the problem. Were always going to have members post in the wrong forums, in which a mod will have to move.

You would think that the description of the forum would explain enough, but some seem to not read or care when posting. I think its also when visting the Distro section, most will just post in the first top most forum they first see, not scrolling down to see the general section.

I think maybe a move down might help instead of making the name change. We had to do the same thing with Linux - General, as everyone was just posting there when it belonged elsewhere. That seemed to have cut down the unecessary posts there.

My two cents.

I see your point, and I know there's no silver bullet for this particular thing: there will always be posts that would better go elsewhere.

I guess renaming the forum is the most "drastic" option. Another thought would be to have a news item: What is Linux From Scratch? It might contain a brief description of the purpose. However, given the point made that some users don't typically read descriptions of forums anyway, it would seem logical that those same users would ignore a news item...
