You're right, I wasn't following this thread for a while now, I missed some of it.

To me it's quite funny tho, the whole situation. I don't think removing the system will change anything, only maybe the self-esteem of those who disagree with it. I usually am against typical reputation systems (mostly because I usually end up having a bad one), but in the case of LQ, here you typically don't make arguments (my arguments are always of the type "devil's advocate"), instead you help people and they say thanks. This means there will always be positive reputation or none at all. So, I'm not against it, I think maybe you people take it too seriously.

I also think most of the examples out there of misuse have to do with the attitude of the user. Their attitude isn't gonna change if you remove the thanks system. Do you think the contrary ?

Also, currently I think ErV is permabanned. (problem solved)

The privacy feature only impacts the statistics tab in your profile, and does not completely opt you out of the "thanks" functionality. We're still watching usage and feedback on the feature closely and will make adjustments as necessary.

I like the idea of thanking members, but the text that appears when someone has been thanked is bad, i.e. "The Following User Says Thank You to user For This Useful Post". It's not the wording that I have a problem with, it's that most words are capitalised. Could we have the words written normally (i.e. no capitals except where it's usual to have them)?
