Make sure to select 'Y' for new option CONFIG_NOUVEAU_LEGACY_CTX_SUPPORT on kernels 5.1.9 and 4.19.50 (linked bug report is for 5.1.9; I had a compile failure on 4.19.50) and probably the older kernels as well.

See https://lkml.org/lkml/2019/6/11/602 for more information. Looks like Greg will simply revert the offending commit.

Selecting 'n' causes a build failure.

FWIW with kernel 4.19.50 nvidia-legacy390-kernel won't build anymore here (with 4.19.49 does), had to switch to 5.1.9 (and patch nvidia-legacy390-kernel for it, but it's for other changed stuff).

Is this also applicable to nvidia-legacy340-kernel?

I haven't tried it but I guess the incompatibility with kernel 4.19.50 will still be, and I doubt the patch linked above to use it with 5.1.x will work with that version...

Edit: nvidia-legacy340-kernel modules does indeed seem to build and run fine using your modified SlackBuild-script with kernel 4.19.50.

Arch Linux has kernel patches (4.11, 5.0 and 5.1) for nvidia 340.107 but I'm not sure if the patch for 4.11+ is needed:

well, it seems the host where I tried that isn't that clean... I tried again on a vm and everything seems to have gone fine also with 4.19.50...

I tried also nvidia-legacy340-kernel with these mods and it worked.

sorry for the noise...

Ponce, is that v5 kernel build in your regular working folders? Always wanted to thank you for leaving your work public. I’ve found myself there many of times. I want to see if the kernel you built will allow Slackware to run on my amd 3550h hardware. Kernel v4 not working. Thank you!

it's an all-in-one package containing also the kernel-source (and I applied Con Kolivas' patch to it, but that should not matter for your test)

Dave seems to have disappeared.
It has been six months since he was last online here and his 4.4.y updates are done
by an automated script.
Hopefully, he is taking a well deserved sabbatical and is sipping unbrella drinks, while relaxing in
a hammmock under a couple of palm trees on some South Pacific beach.

Another round of updates has been scheduled for release Saturday morning (GMT).

If no problems are found while testing the release candidates, they might be available sometime on Friday (depending on your time zone).

5.1.10, will accommodate 155 patches.

4.19.51, will incorporate 118 patches.

4.14.126, will include 81 patches.

I see we're back in another of those each kernel lasts ~3 days periods again. I think I'm going to have to start skipping every other release again like I did last time the frequency got a little insane.

Yep, I'm currently installing every fourth release.
