Here's mine...gothic and minimalist. I use xfce to manage it. I made up some of the icons....the Xine icon was a screen capture of goom. Kdiff3 uses a pic of an orange and an apple I found on the web.
But for me i couldnt get that weather script working so i got another script for accuweather and modified a bit
And i was trying to get a calendar in conky also but if i have ${exec cal}
none of the dates are correctly aligned ,i found solution to this to use sed and done that also but still no luck
I like the transparent file manager, what is it? I haven't tried many so I'm sorry if this a dumb question, but can it have a split window and a shell at the bottom? I can't use one without those features but I'm not real thrilled with any of the default kde4 managers.

You might be able to use a fully transparent glassy theme like that for all your windows in KDE4 but I think those are just desktop widgets. Then again I only used KDE4 for about four days so I'm not entirely sure.

When I used PC-BSD7 with KDE4, it had the file manager docked on the desktop at all times. I thought it was kinda cool, it always showed the contents of ~/

Use a monospace font for proper spacing. Post your conkyrc and I'll have a look.
