This is my basic desktop. It's KDE 4.4.5, with a custom desktop background, new menu button from kde-look, classic menu, colibri notification, six desktops, a hidden cashew and a number of other subtle changes. I like a clean desktop, and I like to avoid having more than one thing for each task - so I don't bother with desktop plasmoids.
I also have an openbox desktop which I'm working on at the moment - not got it looking pretty enough yet (tint2 panel and conky aren't up to my aesthetic standards yet) so I'll wait until I'm happy with it before posting anything.

Reason: typo
Slackware 13.1 with KDE. Details on what I used to make the look is under the description of the linked page.
I used the Ghost in the Shell theme for a while and had the same kmenu icon (which is weird), but I was annoyed by the dark text-boxes for things like youtube comments. That said, I like your Tron background. Also, the Neon icon theme looks extremely good with this set-up. Nice KDE4 theme - definitely some ideas from when I get bored of what I have. Very cool.
My YouTube comments are just the plain black-text-on-white-background as usual. The only places I get dark text boxes are in search engines and in some boxes on sites like Facebook -- basically it's only dark in text entry fields. I did have to do some tweaking to makes things more visible, so at this point nothing is annoying to read.
tbh, I can't really remember where visibility was an issue, and I'm sure it was fixable. I agree, Tron is great desktop material - I had a System Shock 2 wallpaper when I used the Ghost theme; though it was all very green. Can't believe I never thought of using the neon icon theme though, because that looks solid.
