Change default DE using auto-login with Tumbleweed

This should be easy, but I haven't found out how to do it yet, it might be a bug.

All I want to do is change the default DE when using auto-login on Tumbleweed. I've tried logging out, selecting the DE I want, and logging in, which works for that session, but on the next reboot it just jumps straight into plasma again, ignoring my previous choice. I've also edited /etc/sysconfig and changed the default window manager to xfce, but that had no effect either.

What am I missing? Is it a bug in the default sddm display manager?

look at /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager
you need to find the right name, look at /usr/share/xsessions/

but I am nearly sure that there is a yast sysconfig entry also

That's what I meant by "I've also edited /etc/sysconfig and changed the default window manager". It had no effect. I did it manually and through yast, same result.

For giggles I switched the display manager from the default sddm to lightdm, and that seems to have fixed the issue. I guess sddm just ignores sysconfig preferences and the previous wm when using auto-login?
