diff. between author-dev *.tgz and Suse *-src.rpm?

I've compiled a few apps from source using the auther-dev source tarball that usually leads to a compile procedure like

./configure
make
make install

Does a Suse src-rpm package contain the same files which it then just unpacks when 'installed' for compiling? Are other dependencies involved in the Suse src rpm as well so that the Suse & author's packages are not really the same?

Why don't you just download one of these packages and inspect their content?
Or install one, see what it installs?

src.rpm is a source rpm with the source of the package, the spec file to build the rpm and all patches needed to build the rpm.

Download it and unzip it and you will see, what is inside.

You can use the src.rpm to build the rpm by:
Code:
rpmbuild --rebuild xxxx.src.rpm
f.e. rosegarden src.rpm:
https://download.opensuse.org/reposi...3.50.1.src.rpm

But there are many more......
