SUSE 10.1 weird problem

SUSE 10.1 has started giving me a weird problem. I tried to change the boot settings (the screen which asks you whcih OS to run) but making windows default and moving it on place above.

Now SUSE runs, login screen shows up and then appears again and again even after i enter the login and pass, that is it doesnt go beyond the login screen. If I give an incorrect login info, it says that the info is incorrect. Also, I am using the root account.

So Whats wrong here?

Well it serves you right for making windows default you turncoat

You changed the default, then changed the order?
Change the screen order back and see if that fixes it. (i.e. reverse last action). Try not to use root.
Can you login non-graphically?

I can boot in failsafe. Any idea how to solve it through failsafe?

OK I booted in failsafe. Ran YAST. Changed the order to original. And still no luck.

Also did the same process over but this time in KDE (through Failsafe), but it doesn't work either.

p.s. I am total noob at linux.

Next - show us the bootloader configuration.

Also, try to login in text mode - and use startx.
