why is my share are getting read only autometically in samba?

I am currently working with SUSE Linux 10 and samba version 3.0.22-13.16-SUSE-SLES10.

Everything is running smoothly but sometimes it shows some folders read only.

It also shows no access on some folders which were previously having full control for users.

I do not make any changes in smb.conf files but still I am having this problem.

Any comment/solution for this problem surely help me.

Waiting for all of u to reply....................

What i would think is happening is something along the lines of a user with higher privaleges is making changes or recreating the folder and setting the automatic permission for him and lower users losing their rights.

Make sure that the directory being shared has the "sticky" bit set. If you also set the "sgid" bit on a directory, all files copied to it will inherit the group ownership of the parent. Maybe this is what you want, maybe not.

Setting the sticky bit will prevent files from being deleted by non-owners which would be needed to create a new version with different ownership. The owner of a file or directory does have the right to change the permissions or group ownership (to a group the user is a member of) on there own file/directory. ( security = user model)
