Need to remove Nvidia Drivers, and start over!

Just when i thought i was getting good i screwed up my perfect Nvidia install. Here is what i did.

I installed the 686 kernel to take advantage of my processor, and X wouldn't start. I went to Nvidia and got the latest driver 9631, and installed it into the SMP Kernel. Worked perfectly until reboot. When trying to reinstall it i get a mismatch error. Seems the version i installed on the default 386 kernel is a different version. I did manage to get my default setup booted back up to type this, but i have no 3d support, so i really screwed something up. How do i totally remove all files pertaining to nvidia, and just start over with both kernels?

You can try to change the following in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file:

Section "Device"
Identifier "NVIDIA Corporation NV17 [GeForce4 420 Mac 32M/GeForce 440 Go 64M]"
Driver "nvidia"
EndSection

The area that says Driver "nvidia" replace with "nv"

If you're not familiar with how to do this press Ctrl-Alt-F1 login then edit the file as root (ie...sudo vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf) and replace the section Driver as stated above.

You can then execute as root /etc/init.d/gdm restart

(You may need to press Ctrl-Alt-F7 after doing this)

The Identifier line will probably be different, but you'll simply change the Driver line.
